If there's something that makes me happy, this is to fulfill my amigurumi's desires. They're such an important part of my life and they cause me so much happiness and joy that somehow I have to make it up for them. Each of them have it's own fixations, some of them are happy with a handful of chocolates, some with a few yarn skeins and others just love to be left alone.
But if you want to make Herb happy, take him to the mountains. As you may know, he left his miuntain, his home, in order to try his luck in the city and become a glamourous Christmas Tree. Still, from time to time he feels homesick and has to spend some days in the forest.
Besides, he has so many relatives and friends that any mountain or forest can make it. Doesn't matter wich one he goes, he always knows someone. That's why I decided to bring him with me to my latest holidays in Andorra, there in The Pyrenees.
Si hay algo que me hace feliz en este mundo, es satisfacer los deseos de mis amigurumis. Ellos son una parte muy importante de mi vida y me dan tantas alegrías que de alguna forma tengo que compensarles. Cada uno tiene sus caprichos y manías. A unos les haces felices con unos chocolates, a otros con unos cuantos ovillos de lana, a otros dejándoles tranquilos y no exigiéndoles mucho... hay de todo, la verdad.
Pero si quieres hacer feliz a Herb, llévale a la montaña. Como sabéis, él dejó la montaña para probar suerte en la ciudad y convertirse en un glamuroso árbol de Navidad, pero de vez en cuando siente una nostalgia irrefrenable y tiene que ir a pasar unos días al bosque.
Además, tiene tantos familiares y amigos que cualquier bosque o montaña le vale, siempre conoce a alguien. Por ello, en mis últimas vacaciones decidí llevarle unos días a Andorra, a ver a su gente de Los Pirineos. Y madre mía si tiene amigos ahí! Miles!
Herb, as many fir trees, is very enthusiastic about architecture and art history. So, each time he sees a romanic church, he feels like travelling in time.
Herb es un gran aficionado al románico. En realidad es algo muy común entre los abetos, quizá no lo sabíais, pero a la gran mayoría les interesa la historia del arte. Herb, es que es ver una iglesia románica y pierde la noción del tiempo.
Let me introduce to you one of the most famous trees in Herb's social circle: Grandpa Coniferus. He has lived for soooooooo many years, and he has seen sooooo many things that he always has some interesting story to tell.
Este es el Abuelo Coníferus. Ha vivido mucho y siempre cuenta anécdotas interesantísimas sobre el bosque y sus habitantes.
Herb always finds a moment to hang out with the flowers. They're his soft spot, and that´s because he knows they just adore him. After all, who doesn't like to feel admired for a while?
Herb siempre encuentra un rato para divertirse con las flores. Siente debilidad por ellas, ta simpáticas y coloridas siempre... Además ellas le adoran, les resulta irresistible, y él lo sabe, y le encanta... Al fin y al cabo...a quién no le gusta sentirse admirado un rato?
It's not only about plants and trees there in the forest. You can also share your time with animals. A great deal of good and nice animals. He loves spending time with cows, because of their great and well known sense of humour, of course. With them is one joke after another... Meet Sissi, one of Herb's best friend. She's hilarious.
No sólo hay plantas en el círculo de amistades de Herb, si no también animales. Muchos y muy buenos. Con las vacas se lo pasa pipa, porque de todos es bien sabido el gran sentido del humor que tienen. Un chiste tras otro. En la foto veis a Sissi, una de las mejores amigas de Herb.
Last but not least, Herb has also had time to party a bit and turn a little crazy with his cousins. You know, you can be a responsible tree, but sometimes too much resin can make you feel a little dizzy, one thing takes to another, and suddenly is 5 o'clock in the morning.
Y cómo no, también ha habido tiempo para irse de fiesta y desmadrarse un poco... Que uno es un árbol responsable, pero de vez en cuando la resina se sube a la cabeza y acabas a las tantas de la mañana en el quinto pino.
Everybody loves each other in the forest. All of them are important and help each other. They enjoy themselves as much in summer as in winter, weather it's rainy or sunny. The only annoying component there, from time to time, is us, human beings.
Todos se quieren en el bosque. Todos son importantes y se ayudan entre ellos. Lo pasan bien tanto en invierno como en verano, tanto si llueve como si hace sol. Los únicos que molestamos de vez en cuando somos nosotros, los seres humanos.
Herb has already come back from his holidays. On one hand he's very happy because he's had such a great time, on the other had he's feeling very sad. The mountains now are different from the mountains he used to know when he was a sprout. A lot of things are changing and increasing very fast. Too fast. The mountains now are full of trails and tracks. Full of metal structures and towers that carry people from one point to another...
He fears that nothing is goint to be as it was before. And I can understand him, since I fear the same thing. That's why I like having Herb around, he reminds me of the important things, things that as a human being, I'm not able to see or understand. Thank you Herb.
Herb ha vuelto ya de sus vacaciones. Está muy contento, pero ayer me confesó que a la vez se siente triste. Ha visto cómo muchas de las montañas ya no son como él recordaba de pequeño. Ahora están llenas de caminos y pistas de las que han expulsado a sus amigos y parientes, y llenas de construcciones metálicas, y cables que desplazan personas de una montaña a otra...
Tiene miedo de que ya nada vuelva a ser como antes. Y yo le entiendo, yo también lo tengo. Prefiero a Herb y sus amigos que a todos esos postes y cables que llenan esas montañas.
Por eso me gusta tener a Herb cerca, porque siempre me recuerda lo que estamos haciendo mal, me da toques y me hace ver aquellas cosas en las que nos estamos equivocando. Gracias Herb.
